Investigate how many different board designs/what makes them different Some cannot switch between K and D CAN network speed ( if it was advertised as DCAN compatible). Some do not have any connectivity to vehicle (obd2 connector, Pin 7 + 8, bad echobytes, cant connect in boot mode)

Some don't install properly (ftdi chip, driver, usb cable quality)

the cheap cables fail in all sorts of ways.

The alternative is the $100 cable from one stop electronics which is very high quality and proven to work. Most of them can be purchased on ebay and amazon from 5$-30$ with hit or miss results. I would like to iron out the differences among the K+D CAN main boards that are shipping with these Chinese cables. there have been lots of discussion in the tuning thread or the boot mode thread. I ask anyone who is having issues with their devices, or has a device confirmed to work, please contribute some information to any section or PM suggestions.
